Connecticut Make-A-Wish introduced a new award at their annual gala on April 30, 2011 held at the Mohegan Sun. The first honorees were Mark and Wendy Wilson of The REACH Foundation. The award, to be presented annually, honors a "person, persons, organization or company that has demonstrated exceptional dedication" to the Make-A-Wish mission and the children they serve. It recognizes the spirit of kindness, philanthropy, and commitment of "some very special friends." Mr. Wilson also served on the Connecticut Make-A-Wish Board of Directors.
